How do I apply to study at UJ?

You have to make sure you stick to the following deadlines:
The application deadline for acceptance to the University is 31 October 2011 although there are some exceptions which require earlier application such as if you are applying to take up residence at UJ, if you are foreign and for various postgraduate courses which you will have to visit the website to explore further
Be sure you meet all the entrance requirements for your chosen study field and that you select at least two alternative study fields and that you meet their requirements too.
Be sure to include your application fee and all relevant documents with the "Application for admission" form. Your application for admission will, initially, be approved on a conditional basis. You will receive a temporary student number so long and your final Grade 12 results must meet the entrance requirements for your chosen study field.
Your application for admission will be approved conditionally, and only once you are notified in writing of your full acceptance will that student number be converted from temporary to permanent.
You will receive an orientation programme in the November before registration. You must contact the Faculty where you will be pursuing your studies to enquire whether or not you have received all relevant documents.
Does your application for admission differ from registration?
A prospective student must first apply for admission before he/she can register. Be sure, therefore, to apply for admission to the University in good time (refer to the closing date for such applications for your chosen study field).
Should your application for admission be successful, it would mean that you have gained provisional admission to the University. This approval will grant you the necessary permission to register for your chosen study field (on condition, naturally, that your final Grade 12 results still meet the requirements of the said study field).
You will need to register in January of the year in which you start your studies.
